Jacki Johnson – the outgoing chief executive of IAG NZ – is the first woman to be named winner of the New Zealand Herald’s Business Leader of the Year for 2015. Judges noted Jacki’s “strong leadership and ability to move the company from strength to strength” among the reasons why she received the award.
Jacki said she felt “…very humbled and very privileged” by the recognition. Tim Grafton, chief executive of the Insurance Council of New Zealand paid tribute to Jacki, saying she is: “…a tremendous leader who has the ability to connect with people regardless of their position.
Grafton said Jacki put industry issues above competition to address some of the toughest problems ever seen in the wake of the Canterbury earthquake disaster.
