Proposed changes to the EQC Act will provide positive outcomes for homeowners and mark an important opportunity for New Zealanders to have their say, said Dean MacGregor,
Executive General Manager Canterbury Recovery for IAG, which owns the State, AMI and NZI brands.
“A major point of frustration for homeowners has been the inefficient interaction between insurers and EQC and these proposed changes would create a much more efficient model,” he said.
“The proposed changes recognise the complexities of rebuilding following a major event like the Canterbury earthquakes.”
“We encourage all homeowners to join the discussion over how EQC can be better enabled to support our communities in their recovery from future disaster events.”
Submissions can be made via treasury.govt.nz until 5pm Friday, 11 September 2015.
