Insurers warn against the dangers of couchsurfing

A growing number of Kiwi travellers are using websites like and to find zero or low cost accommodation overseas.  An estimated 25,000 New Zealanders are currently signed up to, but there are concerns that homeowners and guests lack awareness about the potential risks involved in these types of arrangements.

This week, Radio New Zealand Nine to Noon presenter Kathryn Ryan spoke to Ralph Hart, Head of Personal Lines Underwriting for IAG, and Craig Morrison Chief Executive of Southern Cross Travel Insurance, about the issue.  Click here to listen to the full audio.
