In line with standard insurance practice following events such as the recent earthquakes in central NZ, the writing of new commercial or home and/or contents insurance policies, or extension of such policies, in the Wellington and Marlborough region has been suspended until further notice by IAG NZ’s insurance brands State, NZI, AMI and Lantern. Specific areas this affects are:
Wellington region: Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City, Upper Hutt City, Kapiti District, South Wairarapa District, Carterton District, Masterton District.
Marlborough region: Nelson City, Tasman District, Kaikoura District.
New commercial or home and/or contents insurance, or the extension of such policies, underwritten by IAG for financial institution partners (including BNZ, ASB and The Co-Operative Bank) across the same geographic area has also been suspended until further notice.
Karl Armstrong, Acting CEO IAG NZ Ltd, says: “We see this as a prudent temporary measure while we seek to understand the nature of ongoing risk that may be associated with this event, and it allows us to concentrate in meeting the needs of our current customers who have been impacted.”
